Viveram entre 250 e 205 milhões de anos atrás, estando hoje completamente extintos. O crânio curto e muito largo, com o focinho dotado de uma estrutura em forma de bico, foi talvez a característica mais marcante desses animais. Sua dentição era única, formada por placas de bordas afiadas, e suas mandíbulas eram capazes de mastigar e morder com muita força. Com uma dieta composta de raízes e tubérculos muito duros, foram os herbívoros terrestres mais abundantes em sua época.
 

They lived between 250 and 205 million years ago and are now completely extinct. The short and very wide skull, with the snout equipped with a beak-shaped structure was their most striking feature. Their teeth were unique, forming plates with sharp edges, and their jaws were capable of chewing and biting with great force. With a diet of very hard roots and tubers, they were the most abundant terrestrial herbivores in their time.
