O Brasil abriga hoje cerca de 20% da biodiversidade da Terra. Tamanha riqueza é resultado da trajetória evolutiva das espécies, que acompanhou incontáveis transformações do planeta, de seu clima e paisagens durante milhões de anos. Ao longo desse processo, muitas se extinguiram, mas deixaram evidências de sua passagem através de fósseis. Esses testemunhos são fonte de conhecimento sobre a história da biodiversidade, que nos proporciona meios para compreender o presente, assim como lições preciosas para nossas ações com olhos no futuro.
DIÁLOGOS: PASSADO E PRESENTE é uma iniciativa que o PaleoZOO Brazil celebra em parceria com institutos e projetos ligados à conservação da fauna atual, na tentativa de conectar o conhecimento sobre as espécies que compartilham o mundo conosco e aquelas que se perderam no tempo. Queremos chamar a atenção para a importância do patrimônio natural presente - e também aquele que nos remete ao passado – buscando inspirar reflexão sobre nosso papel em sua preservação.

Brazil houses  about 20% of the Earth's biodiversity. Such richness is the result of the evolutionary trajectory of species, which accompanied countless transformations of the planet, its climate and landscapes over millions of years. During this process, many became extinct, but left evidence of their passage through fossils. These testimonies are a source of knowledge about the history of biodiversity, which provide us a better understanding of our present, as well as precious lessons for our actions with eyes to the future.

DIALOGUES: PAST AND PRESENT is an initiative that PaleoZOO Brazil celebrates in partnership with conservation institutes of current fauna, in an attempt to connect knowledge about the species that share the world with us and those that were lost in time. We want to draw attention to the importance of the present natural heritage - and also that which takes us back to the past - seeking to inspire reflection on our role in its preservation.
